Proposal submitted for ND IT Connection program

The North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education (CTE), in partnership with ITCND, submitted a National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) grant proposal for the ND IT Connection project. The project components include an interactive career-focused awareness program, a hybrid (combination of online and face-to-face) course delivery system, and a career pathways implementation plan. The primary audience for the project is students in grades 7-12 and their teachers, counselors and parents.

ND IT Connection would be an extension of the IT Career Awareness Program, which is currently under development. The proposed budget for the grant is nearly $1.2 million over three years. NSF has up to six months to review and award the grants.

Recession proof jobs include IT careers

FORBES magazine released a list of the top 10 “recession proof” jobs in late 2008. Given the current economic situation, this list has become a go-to list for the unemployed. IT jobs make up three of the top 10. The three IT-related occupations are software design and development; networking and system administration; and business analysis, software implementation.

The complete list can be found at the FORBES website.
